Cast
Susan Palmer (M.J. McMann) holds an MFA in directing from Middlesex University in
London. She has worked previously with
Vermont Stage Company as an actor in Quilters, an assistant director on The
Foreigner and as a director for The Vermont Stage Young Playwrights
Festival. Susan is delighted to join
the company again on this production of Inspecting Carol. She currently teaches acting for adults and
children at The Flynn Center and directs for both Waldorf and Essex High
Schools. As an actor she has been
touring The Thin Line, a one-woman show about eating disorders,
to schools and colleges. She would like
to thank her family and friends for all their support as she balances the new
role of mother with her career.
Andrew Sellon (Wayne Wellacre) most recently played all 35
characters in VSC's I Am My Own Wife.
Also at VSC: Winter Tales 2005 & 2006, the title character in
The Foreigner, Vladimir in Waiting for Godot, and 95+ characters
in eleven consecutive seasons with VSC's Young Playwrights Festival. Andrew holds a B.A. cum laude in English
from Harvard, and an M.F.A. in Acting from UNC-Chapel Hill. He is proud to be an artistic associate at
VSC, and a member of Actor's Equity, the Dramatists Guild, and ASCAP. He is also currently the President of the
Lewis Carroll Society of North America.

Lili Gamache (Zora Bloch) is happy to be working again with Vermont Stage Company where she last appeared
in The Foreigner. Ms Gamache has worked in film, television, stage, and
voiceovers throughout her career in New York, Los Angeles, New England and
Montreal. She thanks the Nash/Blume team for their inspiration and faith.
Tom Condon (Luther Beatty) is an eleven-year-old fifth-grader at Malletts Bay School in
Colchester. Tom enjoys basketball,
reading and playing cards. He hopes to
find a publisher for a children's book he created and wrote with his Dad's
help. It's about a world of office
supplies where the ruler is overthrown!
Tom is the son of State Representative Jim Condon and Ginny McGehee
Condon, the morning show host on WJOY radio.
Ruth Wallman (Dorothy Tree-Hapgood) after receiving an MFA from Yale Drama School,
Ruth moved to New York City, appearing in many off- and off-off Broadway shows.
Ruth ran Creative Theatre Unlimited in Princeton, NJ, then moved back to
Vermont to raise her family. Ruth has
performed with most of the theatre companies in northern Vermont: Lost Nation
Theatre (A Little Night Music, Mousetrap, Lost in Yonkers, Collected Stories);
Lyric Theatre (Oklahoma!, Pippin); Champlain Players (All My Sons,
Cripple of Inishmaan, Twelve Angry Jurors, Trojan Women); Vermont Stage
Company (True West, Much Ado About Nothing, Vermont Young Playwrights
Festival); Royall Tyler (Angels in America, Emma, Getting Out) and
Waterfront Theatre (Dickens By Candlelight). She has also studied
with the Vermont Shakespeare Company. Ruth
is the Executive Director of the Lake Champlain Islands Chamber of Commerce,
and serves on many community boards, including the Vermont Stage Company and
the Vermont Arts Council
Jim Reid (Sidney Carlton) acted
the first of his many stage roles more than thirty years ago. He appeared most
recently in Lost Nation Theater's production of Henry V. Jim has created
characters in several movie shorts and has been cast in two features. He plays
a supporting role in Finding Providence
and co-stars in the Canadian feature film, The
Descendant, designated Best Fiction Feature at the Philadelphia Independent
Film Festival in June of 2007. Jim's
first appearance with Vermont Stage was as Sheriff Heck Tate in To Kill a Mockingbird. He is delighted to be returning for Inspecting Carol.
Bob Nuner (Phil Hewlit) spent a short time at HB Studios and various New
York "off-off" showcase groups and did some summer stock before moving to
Vermont, where he's performed with Two Penny, Unadilla, Panther Players, Bread
& Puppet, Center Stage, and Lost Nation theaters, as well as, more
recently, video projects with Pasture Productions, Kingdom County Productions,
and Mt. Mansfield Media. Roles include the Chaplain in Brecht's Mother Courage, Raymond, Arnie (and
others) in David Budbill's Judevine
and Two For Christmas. Past
appearances with VSC include Our Town, To Kill a Mockingbird, The
Drawer Boy, Vanya/Vermont, and
Winter Tales.
Edgar L. Davis (Walter E. Parsons) a native of Missouri, began his theater career in Minnesota performing with such companies as The Children's Theater Co., The Penumbra Theater Co. and The Great American History Theater Company. In 1993, he earned a MFA in Acting from the University of Minnesota. Since moving to Vermont three years ago, Edgar has performed with the Unadilla Theater(Master Harold and the Boys), Champlain College (A Raisin in the Sun) and most recently the Quarrywork's Theater's productions of Oliver! and Charlotte's Web. Edgar would like to thank Mark Nash and the staff at Vermont Stage Co. for the role of Walter in Inspecting Carol.
Jason P. Lorber (Kevin Emory) has performed on
stage (Death of a Salesman / Harold Clurman Theatre, Glengarry Glen
Ross / Classics Theater Co., Beyond Therapy / Waterbury Festival, 1940's
Radio Hour / Lost Nation), film (Veggies, Dog Day Dreams, The Singer,
Joesquatch, Not Totally Naked, Sales Pitch, Deception), and TV (Late
Night Saturday and several commercials).
He's also a stand-up comedian, and produces "Moo-Jew Comedy," a dinner
performance of Jewish comedians at a Chinese restaurant on Christmas. Jason will perform stand-up on November 13
at FlynnSpace with other comics. You're
invited. Jason's favorite role is
"Daddy," directed by his one-year-old son Max.
Evan Thomas Beamer (Bart Frances) is making
his second stage appearance with the Vermont Stage Company. During most
waking hours he works with his older brother, Adam, directing commercials and
other video productions for Mt. Mansfield Media, or making independent movies
under the name El Matador Films (.com). He would like to thank Mark for
all of the opportunities he continues to create, Adam for being a very good
brother, and Courtney for loving him regardless of his schedule.
Wayne Tetrick (Larry Vauxhall) was last seen with the Vermont Stage Company as
Owen Musser in The Foreigner. His regional theatre work includes
appearances with Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, NY (Inherit the Wind), Charlotte Repertory Theatre in Charlotte, NC (Other People's Money), The Theatrical
Outfit in Atlanta, GA (The Displaced
Person) and The Flat Rock Playhouse in Flat Rock, NC (Bus Stop, Arms and the Man, & The Affections of May). Thanks, love and gratitude to Ellen, Ruby and

Mary Scripps (Betty Andrews) is so pleased to be making her appearance with
VSC. This year, she had the pleasure of
playing Rebecca Peake in Self-Evidence; Jenny Jones/ Mrs. Waters in The
Shelburne Players production of Tom Jones; the mother in Crossing the
Threshold and looks forward to an Off Broadway production of Maura
Campbell's Wild Geese. She studied drama at Bradford Jr. College
and has studied locally with Mark Nash, Jean Taylor, Tom Carder, Bill Reed,
Jock McDonald and is currently studying film with Richard Waterhouse. She
lives in Charlotte with wonderful Bob and Tori

Jeff Modreger (Scenic Design) Currently chair of the Department of Theatre, 2007 marks Jeff's sixteenth year at UVM and sixth as chair. With 300 professional productions to his credits, his work as scenic designer has been seen across the country in regional theatres, operas, national and international tours, various educational institutions, as well as Broadway and Off-Broadway. As scenic artist, his work is well represented in national and international tours, industrials, and for the Showtime series The Brotherhood in its second season and the new live-action Disney film based on the cartoon Wonder Dog. Jeff is currently working on a new production of Treasure Island with VSC creator Blake Robison and is currently represented on tour by the National Holocaust Museum's exhibit: Remember the Children: Daniel's Story. Jeff is a proud to be an original family member of the Vermont Stage Company: The Drawer Boy, Sylvia, Proof, Art, Streetcar...,The Last Station, The Tempest, Amadeus, Glass Menagerie, Jacques Brel..., I Am My Own Wife, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and now Inspecting Carol and Doubt.
John Forbes (Lighting Design) has previously designed the lighting for Woody Guthrie's American Song, True West, Copenhagen, The Foreigner and The Drawer Boy at the Vermont Stage Company. In addition he has designed the lighting for productions at the Old Globe Theatre, the San Diego Repertory Theatre, the Center Repertory Company, and the Ensemble Theatre Company, all in California. He has also designed lighting for Theatre Aspen in Colorado; the Riverside Shakespeare Company and Theatre Matrix in New York; the Arizona Theatre Company, and Saint Michael's Playhouse and Lost Nation Theatre in Vermont. He is the winner of three L. A. Dramalogue awards for his designs at the Old Globe Theatre and three Shelley Awards for his designs with the Center Repertory Company. He is the faculty lighting designer at the University of Vermont in the Department of Theatre, and his lighting design for UVM's production of Metamorphoses was displayed in the Gallery Exhibit at the World Stage Design Exhibition in Toronto. He has also taught at San Diego State University and the University of San Diego, and while at U.S.D., he also managed Shiley Theatre. In that capacity he served as the technical liaison between the University and the Presidential Debate Commission for the final Presidential Debate of 1996 held there.
Rachel Kurland (Costume Design) designed Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf for Vermont Stage last year, and is pleased to return to Burlington. Recent design credits include CATS, The Crucible, and Lion in Winter for Northern Stage and King Lear for NorthEast Shakespeare Ensemble. Rachel has designed costumes in regional theatre at Weston Playhouse, Long Wharf, The Huntington Theatre, Barter Theatre, Portland Stage, and Indiana Repertory. Rachel is a member of USA local 829 and the Professional Association of Custom Clothiers. She has a studio in her South Strafford home where she makes one-of-a-kind wedding gowns and enjoys cooking with her husband and sons.
Dana Baker (Properties Coordinator) has worked in professional theatre for over 20 years. He has worked in New York and at various regional theatres such as The Cleveland Playhouse, the Long Wharf Theatre, and the Berkshire Theatre Festival. Dana spent 9 years at Syracuse Stage/Syracuse University Drama as the Properties Master. Since moving to Vermont with his family 6 years ago, Dana has concentrated on the art and science of fly fishing. He is a resident of South Burlington.
S.M. Payson (Stage Manager) is excited to be back in Burlington to work with Vermont Stage. She is a graduate of Saint Michaels College and has trained both in the United States and Europe. Some of Payson's credits include Festen (Almeida), Of Mice and Men (Northern Stage), and the original works Olive Grover and My Own Stranger (Shakespeare and Company). She would like to thank Production Advantage for letting her steal away to rehearsal and her family for all of their support. To Chris, thank you - bip bop mink mink.
Sue Wade (Costume Assistant) has worked with numerous theater companies in the Burlington area since her eldest daughter was a killer doll in Babes in Toyland. She was delighted to be asked , once again, to be part of a Vermont Stage production.
Evan Cope (Sound Technician) is a junior at CVU. He has worked in sound for two and a half years. He has done sound for The Boycott and American Machine, as well as various other productions. Evan is honored and grateful to be asked to once again be part of Vermont Stage Company and work so closely with so many highly acclaimed people.
