Audience Reviews

“There is nothing like live theater to transport you to another place and time. All the performances were effective, but Ethan Bowen and Robbie Tann were standouts. Jordan Gullikson's Bill Sykes was frighteningly believable. Using Dickens words reminded us of his literary artistry. We are so blessed to have this quality theater here in Vermont.”

“Great presentation of Dickens story! All characters delivered a compelling interpretation, but I must say that the Dodger captured my attention right to his final narrative of his eventual demise in prison........awwe!!”

“Oliver Twist was a great play, the music accompiament was superb and added to the suspense. I personally felt the narrator was over-dramatic, however my friend who was with me loved him, and thought his over-drama added to the feelings given by the play; so I would not consider this a negative. The acting was superb, passionate, and very professional as to be expected with the Vermont Stage Company. I would see this show again, and recommend you go and see it yourself!”

“I was expecting a little depressing and dark. You people did a fantastic job performing this difficult play. It was GREAT !”

“Oliver Twist was a terrific show. It was dark and unsettling, and at the end of the first act I was wondering if I really wanted to spend the rest of the afternoon seeing the worst side of humanity continue to get its way. But I'm glad we stayed. Nancy was a complex character, brilliantly played. Fagan was trapped in a mess of his own creation, but he was so bright and resourceful and he would have had so much to offer if he had taken a different path. The Dodger was cunning and sharp, but beholden to the wrong mentor. The family that took in Oliver was genuine and good. The acting was excellent all around and the musicians were terrific. Despite the dark themes, there were belly laughs and moments of joy. The lighting, staging and set elements all worked beautifully. Amazing to see so much emotion, action and professionalism packed onto such a small stage in such an intimate space.”

“ Hi! My name is Emma Chaffee, and I just saw your show, Oliver Twist. I have to say it was one of the best show I have ever seen! I really loved all the actors, and knew most, but Robbie Tann was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Along with Fagin,Nancy and Bill. GREAT casting. The woman that played Nancy I saw in, "ShipWrecked", and she was spectacular. The whole show, it was just awesome. I'm actually playing Nancy in my school show, at Edmunds Elementary. I just wanted to say I was VERY inspired and now understand my role much more. Thank you so much for putting on this spectaculer show. You rocked Robbie!! Thanks! ~ Emma Chaffee.”
