Ethan T. Bowen

Ethan T. Bowen (Louis de Rougemont)

is very happy to return to Vermont Stage for his twelfth show with the company and second with Jason Jacobs. Ethan was seen last season at VSC as Louis de Rougmont in Shipwrecked, Elliot in Opus, and in Winter Tales 2009 reading Kathy Blume's "Coming to Town, Part II" which featured Gonzo, the Elf.  An Artistic Associate with VSC, previous productions include the Moss Hart Award winning play Mad River Rising by Dana Yeaton, Midwives, O'Carollan's Farewell to Music, Piano Stories, Amadeus, and Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, among others. With an MFA from the Graduate Acting Program at New York University, he has worked with such theaters as: The Joseph Papp Public Theater, The Acting Company, Lost Nation Theater, St. Michael's Playhouse, and more recently in Washington DC at Woolly Mammoth Theater, Olney Theater Center, The Shakespeare Theatre, Roundhouse Theater and Theater J. A board member of the White River Valley Players, Ethan also directs, (including last fall's world premiere of RANSOM) teaches, and is a long-time artist-in-residence with the Vermont Stage Young Playwrights Program. Ethan lives with his lovely wife, Courtney, in central Vermont.

Chris  Caswell

Chris Caswell (Player 1)

is a playwright and actress celebrating her 6th year in this wonderful city.  She's directing Seth Jarvis' new play ICON to be produced at Off Center for the Dramatic Arts this March (fb: ICON The Play).  With VSC, she performed in Oliver Twist, Shipwrecked!, and Well; and is really excited to be in the upcoming production of As You Like It.  This is her third time as a Winter Tales reader.  Chris co-founded Heat & Hot Water Productions (heatandhotwater.com) with whom she creates and performs.

Edgar L. Davis

Edgar L. Davis (Player 2)

is pleased and honored to be acting in his fourth production  with Vermont Stage Company.  His other productions include Inspecting Carol , Well and Prelude  to a Kiss . Edgar has been a resident of Vermont since 2004. Most recently he appeared in the title role of  Quarryworks Theater's production Othello (Summer '09) . He currently lives in Hardwick with  his wife, Shari where he writes short stories, paints houses and substitute teaches grades K through 12.

Mark  Nash

is proud to have served for 11 years as artistic director of Vermont Stage Company. He is currently catching up on his rest.

Christina Weakland (Assistant Director)

is the Director of Education at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts , where she programs the Student Matinee Series and FlynnArts: year-round dance, drama, and music classes & camps.  She holds a B.A. in Theater from Bryn Mawr College, and has stage managed with regional companies like The American Stage Festival, Philadephia's Walnut Street Theater, and several others throughout the northeast.  Locally, she has worked on artistic teams as director, choreographer or assistant for Lyric Theatre, Stowe Theatre Guild, and the Flynn Summer Youth Theater (Check out the upcoming Jason Robert Brown musical: 13, auditioning in April).  Rare onstage forays have included Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing and Sheila in An Inspector Calls.  She thanks Mark for the opportunity to work with the talented artists of VSC.

John Paul Devlin (Scenic Designer)

is the Resident Designer and TD at Saint Michael's College and Resident Designer and Production Manager for the Saint Michael's Playhouse.  Favorite works with VSC include scenery for Shipwrecked, Three Days of Rain and True West.  Other recent works include lighting for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee for the Saint Michael's Playhouse and lighting From the New World, with the Champlain Quadrennial festival.   John is dedicating his 2010-2011 work to his son Patrick who died in September 2009 and to his daughter Kat who is currently recovering from a bone marrow transplant.  Thanks to Carol and Kat; without their support his work would not be possible.

Rachel Kurland (Costume Designer)

is happy to be back with the VSC family (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Three Days of Rain, etc).  She has designed many shows for Northern Stage, St. Michael's Playhouse, Weston Playhouse, and Lost Nation Theatre. Regional theatre credits include Long Wharf, The Huntington Theatre, Barter Theatre, and Portland Stage. New York: Manhattan Theatre Club, Terry Schreiber Theatre and CSC Repertory.  Rachel is a member of United Scenic Artists and Association of Sewing and Design Professionals. She has a studio in her South Strafford home where she makes one-of-a-kind wedding gowns. www.Foxglovegowns.com

Joel Abbott (Sound Designer/Foley Artist)

is happy to be making noise in FlynnSpace once again. Vermont credits include Underneath the Lintel, The Glass Menagerie, Cloud Nine, Shipwrecked, Souvenir, Opus, Prelude To A Kiss, Well, Always Patsy Cline, Blithe Spirit, Around the World in 80 Days, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Dames at Sea. He recently returned from a four month tour as musical director with The Second City, performing sketch and improv comedy shows. Prior to moving to Vermont, Joel was a member of the improv comedy ensemble with Dad's Garage Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. This is Joel's eleventh show with Vermont Stage Company. Special thanks to Mark Nash for everything.

Heather  Nielsen

Heather Nielsen ()

is delighted to appear in her first Winter Tales, having previously worked with Vermont Stage Company in King Lear , as Cordelia and as Sister James in Doubt .  A Minnesota native, she graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College and was active in educational theater in the Twin Cities, teaching and performing with CLIMB Theater Company, The Youth Performance Company, and The Gaia Collective.  Other local roles have included Lea in Strawberries in January at Champlain Theatre, and Kate Keller in The Miracle Worker at Lost Nation Theater.  In the past few years, she's also directed shows for young people, taught summer camps with Flynn Arts and created issue-oriented theater and art with the Vermont Worker's Center!  Heather thanks VSC for this opportunity, Bill Reed for his vocal coaching, and wishes you all a peace-filled holiday season!

Jennifer Moulton (Stage Manager)

is thrilled to be working on My Ohio, her 13th  production with VSC. Jen graduated from the University of Vermont in  '06 with a degree in Theatre. She then spent the 2006/2007 season  working as the Stage Management Apprentice at Round House Theatre in  Bethesda MD. Jen would like to thank Mark, Lisa and the cast for a  great show, her family for their constant support, and Evan for always  believing in her, much love!
