Change In Programing
Vermont Stage Company will present a staged reading of Looking Over the President's Shoulder instead of the originally planned full production. A staged reading consists of a professional actor in costume reading the play from the script, supported by minimal set, lights and sound. For further details, please contact us at vtstage@vtstage.org.
Tickets to this staged reading may be purchased by calling 86-FLYNN or online. Tickets are $21 for evening performances and $16 for matinees.
A fascinating lens through which to view this year's historic presidential election, this one-man show is based upon the diaries of Alonzo Fields, the first African-American Chief Butler in the White House - a position he held for over twenty-one years and through four different administrations: Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman, and Eisenhower. More than an insider's look at some of the great figures of modern history, more than a meditation on race and power, it's a vision of one man coming to terms with how he has spent his life and what he has made of his creative talents.
